Terms and Conditions

Before placing your order, we kindly ask that you read the following information. By purchasing from Demeter Jewellery, you are agreeing to the terms outlined below.

General

Each piece of jewellery is individually prepared by hand in our Bath studio using your personal keepsake. Due to the nature of both the materials and the process, no two pieces will ever be identical.

Variations in colour, tone, and finish are completely natural. Breastmilk, hair, and other traces can all react differently during preservation, resulting in subtle differences from piece to piece. These variations are part of what makes each item unique.

While every effort is made to achieve a smooth, refined finish, very small air bubbles or tiny inclusions (such as fibres) may occasionally be visible within the piece.

A small amount of pigment is typically added to breastmilk to create a soft, milky tone. If you would prefer your piece without this, please contact us before sending your trace.

Jewellery Orders

If you are ordering a ring, it is important that your size is measured accurately. A ring sizer is provided within your collection kit to assist with this if you request one at checkout.

Once your trace has been received and work has begun, ring sizes cannot be adjusted.

Please ensure you are confident in your chosen design, tones, and traces before placing your order. Changes may not always be possible once the process has started. If you need to amend or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible.

Traces

After your piece has been created, any remaining preserved breastmilk may be stored for up to 12 months. This allows you to place future orders using the same preserved material within this time.

If you would prefer for your preserved milk not to be stored, please let us know either by email or on your trace form. Any remaining material will then be respectfully and safely disposed of.

Please note that preserved breastmilk is the only trace we are able to store for future use.

When sending your keepsakes, we kindly ask that you do not send the entire or final amount you have, in the unlikely event of postal issues.

Guidance on quantities:

Breastmilk: 5-10ml (sufficient for up to three pieces)
Hair: a small lock
Placenta: one capsule
Flowers: one dried and pressed bloom

While we take every care of your Traces once they are with us, in the rare event that something goes wrong, we will always do our best to find a fair resolution and will be in touch with you directly.

We'd always recommend sending your keepsakes via a tracked, signed-for service. While we take the utmost care of everything from the moment it arrives with us, we're unable to take responsibility for items lost or damaged in the post before they reach our studio.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are delivered digitally by email, are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, and cannot be used in conjunction with promotions or discounts.

Photography & Promotion

Unless requested otherwise, we may photograph or film your jewellery for use on our website, social media, or other promotional materials.

If your piece is intended as a gift and you would prefer it not to be shared immediately, please let us know and we will happily delay this.

Any images, reviews, or content you share and tag Demeter Jewellery @demeterjewellerysomerset on Instagram may also be used for promotional purposes.

Shipping

All collection kits and finished pieces are sent via Royal Mail.

Collection kits are sent via standard delivery; a prepaid, pre-labelled return box is included for UK customers.
Finished jewellery is sent via secure tracked and signed delivery.

You will receive tracking details once your finished piece has been dispatched.

Each finished piece is packaged thoughtfully in plastic-free, recyclable materials, chosen with the same care as everything else at Demeter.

While every care is taken in packaging and sending your items, Demeter Jewellery cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage during transit.

Turnaround Times

Collection kits are typically dispatched within 7 working days.
Finished jewellery is created and dispatched within approximately 8–12 weeks from the date your inclusion is received.

If there are any changes to these timelines, this will be communicated clearly.

International Orders

Collection kits are sent to international customers with pre-labelled return packaging for ease. Return postage of your trace/s is the responsibility of the customer.

Please note that international orders may be subject to customs charges or import taxes, which are the responsibility of the customer.

Returns & Refunds

Due to the highly personalised nature of each piece, we are unable to accept returns, exchanges, or refunds once work has begun. If you have any concerns at any stage, please do get in touch - we are always happy to talk things through.

If your piece arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us within 14 days of delivery with photos of the item and its packaging, and we will arrange a repair or replacement as quickly as we can.
