Hi, I'm Laura, founder of Demeter Jewellery.

I live in Bath, Somerset, with my two children, surrounded by old stone, changing seasons, and an allotment I return to whenever I need to think with my hands. This place, and this season of life, has shaped the way I see beauty: slow, meaningful, and rooted in the everyday rather than the exceptional.

Before Demeter, I spent years working alongside writers and artists, helping them find the words, forms, confidence and communities for things that mattered to them most. I was always drawn to what sat beneath the surface - the meaning, the memory, the feeling a piece of work was really trying to hold.

Motherhood brought all of that closer. It made me acutely aware of how fleeting life is, and how much meaning lives in the smallest things - a curl of hair, a pressed flower, a feeding journey, a memory, a loss - and how desperately we want a way to hold onto them.

Demeter was born from that desire: to preserve life's moments with care and intention, and to make something lasting and beautiful from them.

Each piece begins with your story. I work with responsibly sourced settings in sterling silver and gold, which I hand-finish and set with your Traces - breastmilk, hair, botanical elements, and birthstones - one piece at a time, in my studio here in Bath.

I take this craft seriously. I trained and was mentored by Lucy at Mama and the Moon in Ireland, a dear friend who guided me carefully, and in real depth, through the process of working with breastmilk and keepsake materials safely. That grounding shapes everything I make: every material is handled with the same rigour and respect, from the moment it arrives with me to the moment your piece is ready.

I guide every customer through the process from start to finish, and I treat what you send me with the same care I would give something of my own.

To me, luxury isn't about excess. It's about meaning. My pieces are commissioned not only because they are beautiful, but because they hold something that cannot be replaced.
