Caring for Your Traces

The Tones that hold your Traces - Milkstone, Seastone, Saltstone, and Emberstone - are water resistant, but not waterproof. We recommend removing your jewellery before bathing, swimming, washing up, or any other water-based activity.

Please also remove your piece before applying chemicals of any kind - cleaning products, cosmetics, hand creams, and hand sanitiser can all affect the Tone over time.

Try to keep your piece out of prolonged direct sunlight and artificial UV. Extended exposure can gradually alter the colour of your Tone. We work with the finest materials to slow this process as much as possible, but some gentle change over time is part of the nature of the piece.

Caring for Your Silver

Sterling silver is a living metal - it responds to the world around it, which is part of its character.

To keep it at its best:

• Remove your piece before household chores. Cleaning products, chlorinated water, perspiration, and rubber all contain elements that speed up tarnish.
• Store away from direct sunlight and artificial UV, both of which can encourage tarnishing.
• When not being worn, keep your piece somewhere dry and dark - a soft pouch or lined box works well.

Caring for Gold

Our gold pieces are crafted in 14 carat and 18 carat gold, chosen for warmth and durability.

Solid gold won't tarnish the way silver does, but it still deserves a little care:

• Remove your piece before swimming in chlorinated water, as chlorine can weaken and discolour gold alloys over time.
• Avoid contact with household chemicals, chlorine, and strong cosmetics, which can dull gold's natural lustre.
• Gold is a softer metal than silver, so take care to avoid knocks and scratches during activities like sport, gardening, or manual work.
• To clean, gently wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth. A mild soap and warm water solution, with a soft brush, is enough to restore its shine - always dry thoroughly afterwards.

18 carat gold, being purer, is slightly softer than 14 carat - so if you've chosen 18 carat, a touch of extra care during daily wear will keep it looking its best for longer.

A Note on Ageing

Traces and Tones are made from real, natural elements - that's what makes them meaningful. Slight changes over time aren't a flaw; they're a reflection of the life your piece has shared with you.
